Making a splash in boat shops across Europe

AkzoNobel was looking for a smart way to differentiate its premium ‘International’ boat paint and coatings products. With outlets ranging from small boat stores to chandleries in large yachting marinas, flexibility of solution was paramount.

Drawing on years of experience creating solutions for retail environments of all shapes and sizes, Fastrak designed an innovative modular point of display (POD) solution that can be installed as either a single bay or an entire aisle, depending on each chandlery’s specific space requirements. It caters for the brand’s full range of tin sizes as well as promotional literature and signage.

Eye catching and practical, the impactful unit includes shelf toppers and shelf edges that facilitate the display of ticket information in front of each product as well as paint guides, information guides and swatches. The unit also incorporates a large header panel and prominent upright posts (with fancy propeller finial) to create a clear divide between AkzoNobel products and adjacent products.

We recommended using injection-moulded components for durability and to ensure the unit could cater for the heaviest products which weighed up to 2 kilos each. The high end finish was achieved by using anodyne aluminium for all upright sections and a range of print processes to achieve a 3D effect.


As each site required a unique configuration in display requirements, Fastrak created a modular and adaptable design to showcase AkzoNobel products and branding. From a simple single product highlighter through to an interactive paint and varnish carousel.
